Psychological Issues
Assess Psychological Issues
-
The person living with a life-long condition needs support and understanding to be able to cope with the every day issues in health.
-
Sometimes a large part of the review will be about helping the patient to adapt their healthcare needs around their family and lifestyle needs.
-
Occasionally further support from a counsellor or psychologist is needed and the review should include protected time for the patient to ‘discuss' difficulties in coping.
-
Support is usually needed long term in some form as the chronic condition changes and adapts to other health states.
Note: Currently Bath Diabetes Service does not have access to psychological support services, these will need to be arranged through Primary Care.
